Maxxis Assegai (3C MaxxGrip – TR – DH)
Greg Minnaar’s signature tyre, the Maxxis Assegai is named after the traditional iron-tipped spear used by the Zulu people of South Africa. Greg, born and raised in Pietermaritzburg, thought it was a fitting name for a tyre ready to do battle in the mountains. With tall knobs to punch through dust and loam to find traction wherever it can be found, and enough support and confidence on wet rocks and roots, the Assegai is the aggressive tyre to rule them all. While other tyres might only excel in certain conditions, the Maxxis Assegai is designed to go fast everywhere.
Top Tip: Match with another Assegai front and rear for an unstoppable (metaphorically speaking) combination for the hardest enduro and downhill riding. Or, pair with a DHR II in the rear for a faster rolling set-up without sacrificing any of the Assegai’s signature sure-footedness.
